Rectangular Beam Shaping

Description and Application

A beam shaping element is a type of diffractive optical element (DOE) that modulates the wavefront of a beam through microstructures, transforming an incident laser beam with a Gaussian distribution into beam spots with uniform or arbitrary intensity distributions, such as linear, rectangular, square, or circular line shapes. Compared to other beam shaping methods such as aspheric lens arrays and birefringent lens groups, DOEs have the advantages of miniaturization, array formation, integration, and high optical energy efficiency, allowing for the formation of sharp boundaries between processed and unprocessed areas. They can be used in fields such as laser welding, laser cutting, laser marking, laser drilling, and medical treatments.
