Description and Application

       Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexer (CWDM for short) is a low-cost WDM transmission technology for the access layer of metropolitan area networks. It has fewer channels than dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) but more than standard wavelength division multiplexing (WDM).The spacing between multiplexed wavelengths is wider in CWDM systems, 20 nm, compared to 0.4 nm in DWDM. The main characterization metrics are insertion loss and isolation. Usually, the increase in optical link loss due to the use of WDM equipment in the optical link is called the insertion loss of WDM. Isolation degree is a parameter specialized in describing the WDM unit, defined as the ratio of the output optical power of a certain wavelength to the optical power of another wavelength crosstalked to the channel.CWDM currently has 1*4-channel Coarse WDM, 1*8-channel Coarse WDM, 1*16-Coarse WDM, and 1*18-Coarse WDM. Customers can choose different channels of CWDM according to their wavelength needs.
