On the evening of September 13, 2024, the 25th China International Optoelectronic Exposition (CIOE) concluded in Shenzhen after three days. As a globally renowned event in the optoelectronics industry, this year's CIOE was as grand and bustling as ever. North Ocean Photonics once again showcased groundbreaking achievements that captured everyone's attention.
At this exhibition, North Ocean Photonics displayed a range of products including wafer-level optical masters, imprinting wafers, etching wafers, and their applications in AR waveguides, 3D cameras, and automotive LiDAR, once again demonstrating the company's robust full-chain integrated optical R&D and manufacturing platform. Notably, the dynamic AR optical modules on display included the newly launched "Yingning," "Qiushui," and "Xiaoyao" series of 30° AR diffractive waveguides, which became another highlight of the exhibition.
Yingning Series - New 30° Monolithic Full-Color Etched Waveguide
Following the launch of the first large-angle monolithic full-color etched waveguide in early 2024, North Ocean Photonics has developed a new star product—the 30° monolithic full-color etched waveguide—in response to market demand and optical module system integration. Among the "Five Major Series," the Yingning series not only boasts better optical performance, appearance, and reduced rainbow and grating visibility, but also leverages North Ocean Photonics's mature process routes and flexible material systems, making it an excellent match for consumer-grade AR glasses.
The 30° etched waveguide on display achieves a single-chip full-color light efficiency of up to 1000 nits/lm, with ongoing improvements. With a thickness of only 0.7 mm, it maintains optical performance while being even more lightweight.
Qiushui Series - New 30° Resin Monochrome Waveguide
Resin waveguides have been a hot topic in the industry since their introduction due to their lighter weight and greater durability compared to glass. However, the lower optical performance and rainbow effect of resin materials have been persistent pain points. North Ocean Photonics' new generation of 30° resin waveguides weighs only 2.2 grams. Designed using North Ocean Photonics's self-developed rainbow simulation tool, it can precisely simulate human vision, achieving an efficiency of 500 nits/lm while significantly reducing the rainbow effect, making it suitable for daily wear.
Xiaoyao Series - New 30° Glass Monochrome Waveguide
The new 30° glass monochrome waveguide on display also addresses the industry's common issue of the rainbow effect. Unlike the cost-effective Qiushui series resin waveguides, the Xiaoyao series, as a monochrome "balanced" waveguide, focuses on balancing performance, appearance, and cost. For monochrome applications where optical performance is paramount, the Xiaoyao series is the ideal choice.
In addition to the three new products showcased, the Mengdie and Fuyao series are also undergoing iterative development. North Ocean Photonics will continue to iterate on the "Qiushui," "Xiaoyao," "Mengdie," "Fuyao," and "Yingning" series, enhancing design and process capabilities to fully support AR applications across various scenarios. Stay tuned!
Metal Wire Grid Polarizers
In the field of micro-nano optical products, North Ocean Photonics has introduced metal wire grid polarizers. These polarizers use metal wire arrays on glass substrates to achieve polarization selection of incident light, offering advantages such as small size, easy integration, wide working wavelength range, and large incident angles. They have broad applications in polarized remote sensing, medical detection, optical communication, and liquid crystal waveplates.
Based on its full-chain integrated R&D and manufacturing platform, North Ocean Photonics can cut various shapes according to design requirements, covering products from ultraviolet to visible to infrared wavelengths, meeting the customized needs of different clients.
Optical Engine High-Speed Transceiver Module Fiber Optic Module
North Ocean Photonics' OSFP400G/800G optical engine high-speed transceiver module fiber optic module is a key product in the fields of optical communication and automotive LiDAR this year. Based on North Ocean Photonics's high-density parallel fiber optic design and core manufacturing platform, it combines multiple customizable MT/MPO connectors with ultra-high precision Fiber Arrays. Even with complex multi-core configurations, it ensures ultra-high pitch accuracy and tolerances, maintaining high coupling efficiency between core fiber optic components and chips, providing high-reliability optical engine modules for high-performance AI applications.
