Recently, the National Industrial Information Security Development Research Center organized an evaluation meeting for the scientific and technological achievement of "High-Performance Ultra-Thin Monolithic Full-Color Etched Grating Waveguide Development and Application" independently developed by North Ocean Photonics. The achievement was rated as internationally advanced and was registered in the National Scientific and Technological Achievements Database with the approval of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
Subsequently, the National Industrial Information Security Development Research Center organized an expert review meeting on the "Hard Tech Capability Building" of North Ocean Photonics Technology Co., Ltd. The attending experts listened to North Ocean Photonics' summary report, reviewed relevant materials, and after questioning and discussion, concluded that: North Ocean Photonics' technology and products possess independent innovation and advanced leadership. Its core technology R&D capability, achievement transformation capability, production and service assurance capability, and risk management mechanism meet the "General Requirements for Enterprise Hard Tech Capability Building" and have reached the level of hard tech capability. It has been included in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's high-quality enterprise gradient cultivation system.
Internationally Advanced, Take it!
The evaluation of scientific and technological achievements is a crucial step in the transformation and application of these achievements. It involves evaluation agencies strictly adhering to the relevant regulations and requirements of the "Science and Technology Evaluation Measures," upholding principles of objectivity, fairness, and independence, and organizing multiple authoritative industry experts to provide objective, specific, and appropriate evaluations on the scientific nature, creativity, advancement, feasibility, economic value, and application prospects of technological achievements.
With the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) and augmented reality (AR) technologies, AR glasses, as the best near-eye display carrier for AI, have raised higher demands for the thinness and high performance of optical waveguides. To make the wearing experience of AR glasses more normal and "imperceptible," North Ocean Photonics has developed a high-performance ultra-thin monolithic full-color diffraction waveguide technology based on the etching process route, achieving an internationally advanced level. This is not only a strategic response to market demands but also an important move to drive technological innovation and industry development, facilitating the advancement and commercialization of AR consumer products.
Win "Hard Technology" with "Hard Power"
Hard technology refers to high-precision original technologies formed through long-term R&D investment and continuous accumulation in key industries such as new-generation information technology, high-end equipment, new materials, new energy, energy conservation, environmental protection, and biomedicine, with independent R&D at its core. It has high technical thresholds and barriers, making it difficult to replicate or imitate, and has clear application products and industrial foundations, providing strong leadership and support for industrial development.
In the future, North Ocean Photonics will continue to follow the "Four Orientations" (orienting towards the global technological frontier, the main economic battlefield, national major needs, and the health and well-being of the people), deepen the integration of innovation, industry, capital, and talent chains, promote breakthroughs in key technologies, explore multi-field applications, accelerate product marketization and industrialization, and contribute more to the prosperous development of China's hard tech industry.
